CMP - PRO6 track days
« on: July 24, 2017, 03:29:57 PM »
  So finally doing a track day at Bogie on Monday 31 July ... now that there's a break in this year's monsoon season. Probably at least 1 other member - anyone else planning it or on the weekend? I never went up last weekend,  did anyone participate in the VRRA events??
Cheers Mark (still the slowest guy in Yellow group; and hopefully soon I'll have my Africa Twin so I can work on my off-road skills. Namibia didn't drain me after all lol!)

Only 20 of them.

I will be there Saturday and Sunday.

Maybe on Tuesday as well.

At Goofie and Gasele, I've got a canopy that you guys can hang out at if your looking for some shade in between sessions.
I'll be there bright and early Saturday morning for tech inspection and setting up.

SUPER green group...cool. And though Karl is right with the 20 turns, I'm sure with our 2011 Ott-moto track day his Hayabusa was going so quick he skipped turns 1,2&3 and just sifted thru from turn 1 to the long backstretch to turn 5. Ya, the speed and Luskville stuff paid off lol!
Stay hydrated & even though everyone is going the same direction - Pay Attention. Sometimes you get one nutbar that really isn't paying attention ... or following proper procedures.
The place to buy snacks is near the gas pumps & where you do sound checks. Does anybody know IF they actually sell gas there or is it only on automobile type weekend events??
Rated R - hopefully I'll be there Monday at a reasonably early time. With my SILVERado/blue enclosed trailer. I've got a 12' square canopy that you guys can share.
And off season, I'll be bugging the off-road guys about GPS stuff and the T.A.T. Ushuaia too expensive so 2019 I'm thinking of another cross country U.S. trip. Mountains looking scary so 2018 for a lot of training.
Cheers Mark :)

You can usually top off your gas at the pumps during the lunch hour break.  Sometimes it's hard to find the attendant to unlock the pumps, but they are around.
In addition, you also pay a hefty premium for the onsite convenience of their gas.

Best off to just bring your own in a jerrycan.

Gas pump was open most of the day from what we saw!

Had a great time for a total noob.  Chose to follow around an instructor most of the day.  Didn't go that hard on the straights,  just worked on the corners.

Maybe next time I can follow Zero around... or try to anyway.

Thanks for the shade, too!

Glad the 2 of you came out.  It was a great day!
Bogie is a very technical track.  Best to work on lines and then pick up speed later on.
I'm still learning the track, and not even close to the real fast guys and gals. I go just for the enjoyment and thrills of it, and if I get faster and more skilled, than that is just a bonus.

Hope to see you out there again.

They show for me, but I uploaded to the forum...  when I check the images in the Media section, they do state pending moderator approval before they can be viewed by public...  Presumably that's all it is.

I think as long as the weather is decent, we're going to aim for Saturday and Sunday.

Very fun day!  Temps were a little chilly in the morning (4 degrees C)  Saw a couple of riders low-side in turn 2-3 in the first couple of sessions....prob due to cold tires.

But all in all good day.  Warmed up in the afternoon, and the laps times starting coming down.  Just need to work on my consistency.

Thanks for coming out enjoyed the company.

:angry7: Kept watching weather and hoping Monday would be dry. Nope and I'm a wimp my first year on slicks. Just practising the line and trying to be smoooth. A lot of guys didn't even go out. Track wasn't really drying at noon so the slowest guy in Yellow group packed it in. And noticed a fair bunch of quicker guys (ya, all r quicker :thefinger:) were putting on rain tires for the afternoon sessions. Ah, next year I guess. And they started the riders meeting talking about Saturdays 'crash fest.' Screw it, Calabogie Boogie next weekend on my Africa Twin. Yes, I'll be slowest dual-sport there too but again with a big smile;)
Cheers Mark :)
